Award winning composer Jay Vincent has been creating unique music for feature films, television, and games for over a decade. In 2012 he composed original music for the Golden Globe Awards, had a #1 television series, LEGO NINJAGO: MASTERS OF SPINJITZU, and became one of the youngest composers to receive a BMI Film & TV Award (the first of two). His beloved score for NINJAGO was also nominated for the 2015 Annie Award for Outstanding Achievement in Music in an Animated TV/Broadcast Production, and has been added to the legacy of film music released by Varese Sarabande Records.
Passionate about telling stories across genres and cultures, his work is as diverse as his credits: Iraqi folk music (THE O.R.), Hip Hop (LOVE FOR REAL), Bluegrass (THE MIDNIGHT ANTHOLOGY), K-pop (COMFORT GIRLS), Salsa (THIS IS WHO WE ARE), rural Italian (FINDING LITTLE ITALY), Punk (SHARK BITES), and the classic orchestra (FAKE). His recent score for the Spanish film EL REGRESO DE ELIAS URQUIJO (directed by Cannes Film Festival winner Roque Madrid) was honored with the award for Best Original Soundtrack at the Festival Internacional de Cine Bajo la Luna in Islantilla, Spain.
The worldwide phenomenon of NINJAGO has given him the privilege of presenting rich and intelligent music to a new generation of children, in the spirit of the classical masterpieces in Chuck Jones' LOONEY TUNES. In a time where musical themes are losing popularity, NINJAGO fans in 40 countries are treated every week to memorable melodies played by unique instruments from around the world. With music that is mature yet accessible, his experience scoring this beloved series has convinced Jay that kids still enjoy meaningful music in front of the television.
Jay is also part of the Star Wars universe, composing music for LEGO STAR WARS: THE YODA CHRONICLES on Cartoon Network. A longtime collaborator with EA Games, his music can be heard as the top selling track on EA's DRAGON AGE 2: EPIC TIMES video game soundtrack, and in many trailers for standout games including BATTLEFEILD 4, MASS EFFECT 3, COMMAND & CONQUER, DRAGON AGE 2, and DRAGON AGE: INQUISITION.
Like many of the industry’s top composers, Jay received his graduate degree in film scoring from USC, where he previously earned degrees in Composition and Cinematic Arts. His formal studies of cinema technique and history provide him rare insight into the possibilities of how music can interact with the film medium. As a performer, he has brought Haydn to life with the Vienna Philharmonic and toured the islands of Japan. As a listener, his diverse and meticulous study of sound, story, and history has yielded an arsenal of abilities that make even the most challenging project possible. As a collaborator, his relationships with filmmakers have produced breakthroughs in careers and lasting works of art.
